Q: Where'd the name Free Wind Freebies come from?
A: "Free, free as the wind blows..." That's a song some of you might recognize. I was making a website about free stuff, and the multiple references to the word "free" just seemed to fit.
Q: Does Free Wind Freebies offer free samples?
A: No. We're just the messenger. Your freebies come from whatever company or organization the link redirects you to. We are not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned.
Q: What type of freebies do you post?
A: I love free samples. And by free samples, I mean no credit card required. Most of the items posted fall into that category- a short form to fill out and no shipping to pay. Some, however, will require a shipping charge or may require credit card information but no charge. I don't normally post sweepstakes, but an especially tempting one may occasionally make the cut. I also don't post localized freebies, i.e., only available in a certain town, but I may at times post deals from well-known tourist locations.
Q: Where does Free Wind Freebies find out about this stuff?
A: Three words: years of research. Most of my sources are listed on the Recommended Sources page.
Q: Why does the link to a sample not work?
A: Many promotions are for a limited time. I personally check all the links at time of posting (after all, I order the freebies for myself, too), but I do not check and remove older posts. Try the samples from the most recent posts first. Also, try the categories listed in the sidebar to the left under "More to Love..." These links are long-term or permanent. If you find that one of these links is broken, please leave a comment to that effect and I'll check it out.
Q: Why didn't I get my sample yet?
A: Companies are often flooded with freebie requests when they offer a sample. Some companies are prompt about sending, and others take months. Most will give you an expected delivery time frame after completing the form. Occasionally, companies will send you an email saying "Sorry, we ran out of samples. Too bad." At other times they may tell you more samples are in production but there will be a delay. Sadly, I've ordered samples at times that simply never came. To avoid this fate, be sure to apply only once per mailing/email address. Some companies cancel multiple orders. Also, double check your mailing address before submitting a request form. Otherwise, just be patient.
Q: What's so great about free samples, anyways?
A: Need you even ask?! You can use it yourself or make a gift basket out of it. You get to try something you've never tried before. You save money. You get to feel like a kid tearing into a package with with a big red bow on it. In short, freebies are fun!
Q: If I sign up for emails, how often will they come?
A: That depends. Emails alert you whenever a post is published, which usually means a new sample or other freebie. Sometimes that means several in one day. There may be dry spells- weeks with no new samples. But expect an average of one new sample per day.
